Winnix

The next major release of Winnix (3.00) will be marketed, in a few months. It's time for you to run compatibility tests.
We chose to move to a major release number for a simple reason : we had a major rewrite of the settings following the new securities guidelines of Microsoft in Windows 7. Of course, this release will be compatible with Windows XP or Server 2003.

Since Windows XP at least, the use of central INI files is not recommended and since Vista users don't have access to the whole Windows registry.
Winnix2.ini file totally disappeared for this 3.00 release. All the settings are now user centric and are now in this registry.

Thanks to the introduction of our new licence server in the 2.30 version and with this 3.00 release, it's now easy to have different settings per user sharing the same computer (or on a TSE server...), avoiding multiple activations' difficulties or wide user rights.
The global settings are now written in HKEY_CURRENT_USER section instead of in the winnix2.ini file, SES files (composite or not) are still there and used for all settings releated to the database.

Having security in mind, SES settings and images (conf_path and bmp_path) are now located in the user's Application Data directory.
This new directory is created for you at the first launch, copying the original data from Program Files. It remains possible to keep the same directory as in the 2.30 version.

This version is completed with the following functionalities : Print Wizard Support (PDF writing from PCL, overlaying logo addition), device licensing on QM, aspects changing, error reporting through Microsoft Winqual, license expiration alerts and post-its for notes linked to the session.

WINNIX Mobile version may be used on both Personal Digital Assistant and phone.
We previously annonced the Winnix Pocket's migration to Winnix Mobile for its use on Windows Mobile 5 and 6.
Winnix Mobile now enables digital signing on the Personal Digital Assistant itself, if it supports it. (Have a demonstration in the VIDEO section of our website www.winnix.fr ).
Winnix Mobile works with WIFI or 3G, and connects the database and your software in real time.
A high demand is recorded for applications in conveyance, logistic, hospital and hotel fields.
Possibilities are unlimited : order placing for traders, package delivery and control, schedule display, order placing in a restaurant, package management, medical file consulting...
Real savings are done and fewer paper documents are left, enhancing environment's respect while producing less CO2.
